About Electronic Toolbox
Some years ago, I was looking for an App which can be used for my Electronic developments to lookup component specifications and to do some calculations. Until then, I had to look up various and different individual websites or the Excel sheets I have been created over time. I thought that an App for that would be quite useful since it could even be used off-line and without a desktop computer. By that time, there was no such App available and I decided to build one by myself. It was 2009 when I introduced my first version of Electronic Toolbox. By that time, there were just a hand-full of tools integrated. Thanks to it’s popularity and thanks to so many users who send me their ideas and suggestions, Electronic Toolbox has been updated numerous times and now offers more than 60 individual tools and continues to grow.
In 2012 I introduced another App called RF-Toolbox. This App shares some of the Tools from Electronic Toolbox but includes tools specialized on high-frequency subjects such as Butterworth and Chebyshev Filters, Skin depth and PCB design subjects such as Microstrip Trace width, resistance, impedance or crosstalk calculations.

77 Tools with more than 150 Applications
There are currently 77 Tools included some of them with several individual Applications. Maybe this number is already out of date as there are more to come with every single frequently distributed update.
Electronic Toolbox offers many circuit calculation tools like here, the Wheatstone tool which will calculate the resistor or voltage values in a Wheatstone Bridge circuit.
Like here in this example, you can decide which values are given (R1 to R5 in this case) and which should be calculated (R5 Voltage in this case) by hitting the button on the left side. An arrow indicates the value which should be calculated.
This is just an example of many more included circuit calculation tools like simple component parallel/series connection calculations, LED pre-resistor calculations, NE555 or OpAmp circuits and even complex Transistor or FET circuits.
Besides the calculation tools there are many component database tools included. For instance for Transistors (60000+ Types), FETs (5000+ types), Diodes (24000+ types), Pic and Atmel controllers all with datasheets and general ICs such the 74xx or 40xx series and many more.
All important characteristics of the component will be displayed as well as the pinout.
A parametric filter option allows to search for certain parameters when looking for a particular component with certain specifications.
For certain components such as Transistors, replacement alternative types will be listed as well.
Data updates over the air
All features (except data-sheet downloads) can be used off-line, without an Internet connection. Even the data-sheets can be viewed off-line after downloaded.
To update the huge databases, some time ago update over-the-air has been introduced. This way, I can regularly update the contents of the databases without the necessity to send an app update to Apple.
Background information and Formulas
The tools are providing additional information about how to use each individual tool and moreover, background information about the corresponding circuit, component or device will also be provided (in some cases, only in English).
For the calculations, even the corresponding formulas will be displayed.
For this reason, this App is not only meant for electronic experts but also for students and people just staring with electronics.
By using the search box at the top of the screen, it is possible to search for terms across all tools in one go. For instance, if you enter inductor in the search box, you will find the various calculation tools that deal with inductors, the circuit symbol, various formulas as well as the Glossary entries for inductor. You can even just enter BC107 to find this transistor without even selecting the Transistors tool.
As there are now more than 70 tools included in my app, I am personally using this function quite often as it helps me to find the right tool much quicker.
The “Project” function can be used to store and collect information, calculation results, diagrams etc. from other tools. From here, component lists and circuit diagrams can be im-, exported or even be printed.
Electronic Toolbox has been developed as Universal app and is running in portrait and landscape mode on all devices from iPhone 4 to iPhone 6 and 6 plus and of course also on all iPad devices. Several users are even using their iPod to run Electronic Toolbox.
The minimum requirement is iOS 7 but the app has been optimized for the most recent iOS and takes advantage of features like iCloud-Drive which has been introduced with iOS 8.

Best of all, this app was developed by a user for users. As Engineer, I am using my app almost every day.
